Fourth of July fireworks can be stressful for dogs and cats. If your pet requires anxiety medications or behavioral health supplements to get through the Fourth and the surrounding days, we recommend putting in your refill request now. With the holiday only a few days away, we want to make sure pet owners are prepared in advance – especially since the Fourth of July falls on a weekend this year. Call us at 540-776-0700 or submit a request online through our app and pet portal. If the holiday makes your pet anxious or stressed, then you can also check out our blog post for some tips and tricks on making the holiday as safe and stress-free as possible for your pets. We will be closed over the weekend and recommend saving the Emergency Vet’s contact information in your phone in case you need it – their phone number is 540-563-8575.

If there’s one thing we know most of our clients have in common, it’s pet hair, so we hope the winning client will put the vacuum to good use. When you purchase a 6 month supply of Bravecto or a 6 month supply of Sentinel, you’ll recieve one raffle ticket. When you purchase a 12 month supply of Bravecto or a 12 month supply of Sentinel, you’ll receive three raffle tickets. If you have any questions or need Bravecto or Sentinel for your pet, please contact us at 540-776-0700.

Spending time with our pets during the long, sunny days of summer is one of the best parts of this time of the year! But being overeager in the heat can quickly become dangerous. Animals with flat faces – also known as brachycephalic breeds (ie: Pugs, French Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, English Bulldogs) – are more prone to heatstroke because they cannot pant as effectively as other dogs. Elderly, overweight, and sick pets are also at a higher risk for health concerns if in the heat too long. Luckily, there are precautions you can take to help ensure your pet can still have a fun – and safe – summer with you. Follow these 8 tips to beat the heat this summer and keep your pets safe!
The Fourth of July can be a fun time to celebrate with family and friends, but it’s not always the most fun for our pets. It can be a frightening time of year for our pets and can even be dangerous for animals. Fireworks and celebrations can startle animals and cause them to run away, the food at festivities can make our pets sick, and heat can be dangerous. Thankfully, there are precautions you can take beforehand and measures you can take during festivities to ensure your pet has a safe and healthy holiday. Check out some of the most important Fourth of July pet safety tips on our blog!
In recent years, dog parks have sky-rocketed in popularity. They can provide fun, exercise, and playtime for dogs with high energy needs or those without a yard at home to run and play in. But they don’t come without risks and ultimately, it’s up to every pet owner to determine if the dog park is the right place for their pet. If you do decide to visit the dog park with your dog, then follow these tips to ensure your dog is safe and protected at the dog park. In this blog, you can also learn more about the three dog parks in the Roanoke Valley and what they have to offer, so you can decide which park is the bet fit for you and your dog!
Anxiety in cats can be difficult for both cats and their owners. The development of anxiety in cats is often triggered by very specific events, objects, or changes in routine or environment. Sometimes, it can be difficult for cat owners to recognize, as some signs and symptoms of feline anxiety manifest as destructive behavior and can be misinterpreted as bad behavior. The signs and symptoms of cat anxiety can also mask other illnesses, so always visit your vet to ensure that there are no underlying conditions. Luckily, we now have another option for addressing anxiety in cats – breakthrough feline supplement, Feline Calming Care. Purina Calming Care is a breakthrough feline supplement. It contains a probiotic strain shown to help cats maintain calm behavior and helps cats cope with changes in routine and location, helps promote positive behaviors such as playing and seeking out social contact, and has shown an improvement in cats displaying anxious behaviors such as pacing. To learn more about Calming Care and if it might benefit your cat, continue reading on our blog.
