Two Ways To Give Back This Holiday Season

This December Big Lick Vet is working to help two local organizations that benefit animals in our community. The first is the Roanoke Valley SPCA and the second is Saint Francis Service Dogs. If you’re looking to give back this holiday season and looking for great organizations with great causes, you can’t go wrong with these two!

Roanoke Valley SPCA

This December we’re holding a food drive for the Roanoke Valley SPCA and their P.E.T. Program! Since 1916, the Roanoke Valley SPCA has made the welfare of homeless and unwanted animals a priority and in 1958 the RVSPCA became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Their mission is to create a community where there are no homeless dogs and cats. The P.E.T. (Pets Eat Too) program provides services to keep people and pets united in the Roanoke Valley. Home-bound senior citizens can receive a supplemental supply of pet food delivered to them along with their protein-rich food from Meals On Wheels. Individuals receiving services form local food banks can also benefit from pet food supplied by our organization.

The most needed items at this time are:

  • Friskies Wet Cat Food Pate
  • Kitten Chow and Puppy Chow
  • Dry Dog Food

Donations can be dropped off at the clinic Monday through Friday from 7:30AM to 5:30PM. At the end of the month, we will deliver all food and supplies collected to the RVSPCA.

Saint Francis Service Dogs

This December, we are also featuring Saint Francis Service Dog angels on our Christmas tree in the lobby! Their wish lists are full of toys, treats, and supplies that will help them on their journey to becoming a Saint Francis Service Dog! Saint Francis is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to help children and adults with disabilities become more independent and self-sufficient through partnership with a professionally trained service dog. They are also committed to promoting the use and acceptance of service dogs through public and professional education, providing advocacy for service dog partners, and supporting the growth of the service dog industry on a national level.

You can bring your angel’s gifts to Valley View Mall, Tanglewood Mall, or here to Big Lick Vet and we will deliver your donations to Saint Francis Service Dogs!

We’re excited to be able to play a small part in helping two wonderful local organizations that do so much for the people and animals of our community this holiday season. Anything you’re able to do to help is much appreciated! Have a happy holiday season!
